Influenza viruses are important pathogens that can cause sporadic respiratory illness, annual epidemics, and, in the case of influenza A viruses, periodic pandemics. therefore, innovative and continued research is necessary to better understand the origin, provenance and causes, as well as the viral genome, the body’s immune response to infection, and the epidemiology of the virus to create adequate countermeasures.
